A 64ª edição do Emmy Awards, maior prêmio da televisão norte-americana, ocorre neste domingo (23), com transmissão ao vivo no Brasil pelo canal de TV a cabo Warner Channel. A noite terá como anfitrião o comediante e apresentador Jimmy Kimmel.

Vencedora nas últimas quatro edições como melhor drama, "Mad Men" poderá igualar o recorde de "Frasier", que em 1998 somou cinco estatuetas como melhor série de comédia.

"Mad Men" lidera as indicações da Academia de Artes e Ciências da Televisão neste ano, ao lado de “American Horror Story”, cujo criador Ryan Murphy, será homenageado pela Academia com um prêmio especial por sua carreira no dia 19 de novembro. Cada uma delas disputa 17 categorias.

Entre as comédias, a líder em indicações é “Modern Family”. Também vencedora em 2011, a série concorre em 14 categorias, sendo quatro de melhor ator coadjuvante.

Ausência na lista de indicados
A edição de 2012 do Emmy Awards deixou de fora algumas atrações importantes. A mais apontada foi "American Idol", pilar da indústria da música nos Estados Unidos ao longo de suas 11 temporadas, que ficou de fora da disputa de melhor reality show em um momento conturbado após a saída dos juízes Jennifer Lopez e Steven Tyler.

No entanto, Ryan Seacrest foi indicado na categoria melhor apresentador de reality show ou programa de competição.

As comédias “Parks and Recreation” e “Community” também foram citadas por críticos de televisão dos Estados Unidos como ausências importantes entre os concorrentes a melhor série cômica.

Por fim, a séria “The Walking Dead”, uma das maiores audiências da televisão americana, também não figura como indicada nas categorias principais da premiação.

Transmissão começa às 20h
A exibição da premiação na Warner tem tempo estimado de duas horas e terá áudio principal em inglês com tradução simultânea em português.

A cerimônia, que acontece em Los Angeles, será apresentada a partir das 20h, com a chegada dos artistas no tapete vermelho. A entrega dos prêmios começa às 21h, com comentários do jornalista Paulo Gustavo Pereira. A reapresentação do evento será no dia 24 de setembro, às 17h.

Entre as personalidades confirmadas para entregarem prêmios estão Ricky Gervais, (“The Office”),  Louis C.K. (“Louie”), Ginnifer Goodwin (“Once Upon a Time”), Mindy Kaling ("The Mindy Project"), Jim Parsons  (“The Big Bang Theory) e Amy Poehler (“Parks and Recreation”).
