'Desperate Housewives' e 'Will e Grace' estão entre os favoritos ao Emmy


LOS ANGELES (EUA) - Com 15 indicações, o popular seriado de comédia "Desperate Housewives" é um dos favoritos para a noite de entrega dos prêmios Emmy da televisão americana, cuja cerimônia será celebrada a partir das 21h00 do próximo domingo (18) (hora de Brasília) no Shrine Auditorium de Los Angeles.

O seriado, que conseguiu uma enorme audiência em sua primeira temporada, será o destaque da premiação na categoria, juntamente com a sitcom "Will and Grace", que também recebeu 15 indicações.

Mas foram dois filmes feitos para a TV, exibidos pelo canal a cabo HBO, que tiveram o maior número de indicações este ano (16): "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers" e "Warm Springs".

Quanto à "Desperate Housewives", seu sucesso influenciou a categoria de melhor atriz em um seriado de comédia, na qual três das estrelas do programa foram indicadas: Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher e Felicity Huffman. Embora extremamente popular, o seriado foi beneficiado pela ausência de concorrentes de peso após o término de "Friends," "Sex and the City" e "Frasier."

Na categoria de melhor seriado de comédia, "Desperate Housewives" e "Will and Grace" poderão ser superados por um voto de despedida no premiado "Everybody Loves Raymond", que chegou ao fim após nove temporadas. Também foram indicados nesta categoria o vencedor do ano passado, "Arrested Development", e "Scrubs".

A premiação ajudará ainda a alavancar o canal ABC. Além de "Housewives", o thriller "Lost", exibido pela emissora, saiu-se bem e recebeu 12 indicações, inclusive na categoria de melhor seriado de drama.

A 57ª edição do Emmy será realizada no Shrine Auditorium, em Los Angeles, no dia 18 de setembro, com transmissão ao vivo para o Brasil pelos canais pago Sony e E!.

Os demais prêmios técnicos já foram entregues numa cerimônia fechada no último dia 11, e entre os grandes vencedores estão "The Life and Death of Peter Sellers" (6 prêmios), "Deadwood" (5), "Desperate Housewives", "Lost" (4) e "24 Horas" (3).
